How to Check an XBox Warranty

Every Xbox gaming console comes with a standard warranty that covers the console for mechanical defaults. All problems are covered for one year past the date of purchase on new consoles. The “Three Lights Flashing Red” defect is covered for three years past the original date of purchase. If you are not sure about your original date of purchase and want to confirm whether or not your Xbox is still under warranty, you can do so at www.Xbox.com.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to www.Xbox.com and sign in with your Windows LIVE ID. Your Windows LIVE ID is the email address and password that you used to set up your Gamertag on Xbox Live.

    • 2

Click the “Register a new console” button to register your Xbox gaming console.

    • 3

Enter the serial number for your Xbox console, which can be found on the back of the console, as well as your name and address. Click “Submit” when finished.

    • 4

Click “View Warranty Status” to view the warranty status of the Xbox that you just registered. A pop-up window will open that will tell you if your warranty has expired and on what date it expired or will expire.

Tips & Warnings

  • Even though the standard warranty may have expired, your console may still be covered under the “Three Lights Flashing Red” warranty. If you are experiencing the “Three Lights Flashing Red” defect, submit a repair order to determine if your console is still covered.

  • You can dispute your warranty expiration date by calling Xbox Support at 1-800-4MY-Xbox.
