Internet Explorer 6 is a Web browser popularly found on Windows XP systems and earlier. It enables you to browse the Web for your favorite content. For Windows 2000 Pro operating systems, you can install the browser as an upgrade to IE5. However, if you are no longer interested in the upgrade, or prefer to use another web browser, you can uninstall Internet Explorer 6 safely using the built-in Windows uninstall tool.

Click the Windows "Start" button, select settings and click the "Control Panel." Double-click "Add or Remove Programs" to launch the list of installed programs.

Scroll through the list and click Internet Explorer 6. Click "Change/Remove" and confirm that you want to uninstall the Web browser from your computer.

Restart your computer after completing the uninstallation.
