How to Increase Processor Measured Integer Speed

Processors are rated by the number of basic integer calculations that they can perform per second, so increasing that number will naturally increase the speed at which your computer functions. Increasing the processor's integer speed is known as overclocking, which means setting the computer to run at speeds faster than intended by the manufacturer.

Instructions

1. Reset your computer and press the key indicated during the startup messages to enter BIOS. This is typically one of the "F" keys.

2. Press the arrow keys to scroll to the "Advanced Settings" menu and press "Enter."

3. Use the arrow keys to highlight "FSB Frequency" and press "Enter."

4. Input in a value that is 10 higher than the current value and press "Enter." This will increase the speed at which your computer processes integers.

5. Press "Esc" and press "Y" to save changes and exit.

Tips & Warnings

• Set the value back to the default setting if the system crashes or seems unstable at its new speed.
