The driver of a PC speaker allows your operating system to recognize that your PC speakers are attached. This driver is also what lets your operating system send audio signals to the speakers so that you can actually hear them. The driver will automatically be used once it has been properly set up. Therefore, if you want to use your PC speaker driver in Windows XP you're going to have to install it.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the CD-ROM that came with your PC speakers. This CD-ROM will contain the device driver for your speakers.

    • 2

Put this CD in your computer's optical disc drive. After a few seconds, an installation utility will appear on your desktop.

    • 3

Click "Install." This will install the device driver for your PC speakers.

    • 4

Restart your computer. This will complete the installation of your PC speakers. They will now work properly with your operating system.
