How to Replace the Lamp in a Mitsubishi DLP TV
Digital Light Processing television's (DLP television) crystal-clear picture quality is based on a replaceable mercury-vapor metal halide arc lamp unit. Lamp units are designed to last between two and three years before they begin to dull or burn out. Once the lamp begins to become dull or burn out, you must replace the lamp to keep your Mitsubishi DLP television working well.

1
Turn the Mitsubishi TV off and disconnect the power to the television by unplugging the electrical cord. Allow the TV components to cool for 15 minutes before beginning any work.
-
2
Remove the front speaker grill. To do so, pull on each side until the grill pops out of place. This will reveal the lamp's cover and housing.
-
-
3
Use a Philips screwdriver and remove the screws that are holding the plastic cover securely in place. Remove the plastic cover. You will now see the lamp cartridge.
-
4
Locate the screws holding the lamp cartridge in place. Loosen these screws using the Philips screwdriver. These screws cannot be removed. They will loosen enough for you to remove the cartridge. Pull out the metal handle and disconnect the cartridge by pulling it out of its socket.
-
5
Install the new lamp cartridge into place. Secure the lamp by pushing it down into the socket until you hear it lock into place by a clicking sound. Be sure not to touch the glass part of the cartridge as this can damage the bulb and cause it to not work.
-
6
Tighten the lamp cartridge screws until they are securely in place. Place the plastic cover back into place and tighten the screws. Replace the speaker grill back onto the TV and press it into place on each side until it snaps securely back into place. Your television is now ready for use.
