How to Make a Chevron Chain

How to Make a Chevron Chain thumbnail
Chevron chains are usually made with seed beads.

Chevron chains are among the most basic of beading stitches. They are mostly worked with seed beads, though other beads can be incorporated. Chevron chains can be used to make necklaces, bracelets, bookmarks, keychains, rings and even earrings. The look of the chevron chain can be varied by using fewer or more beads to make each loop.

Instructions

    • 1

Thread your beading needle. Add one bead to your beading thread and pass the needle through the bead once to secure it. Leave about 6 inches as a tail.

    • 2

Add nine beads to your thread and pass the needle through the first four beads again. Tighten the thread to form a small triangle-shaped loop with your beads.

    • 3

Add six beads, then count four beads from the bead that is adjacent to the first of the six beads just added. Run the needle through that bead to secure this new loop. Pull this new loop tight.

    • 4

Add six more beads and run your needle through the fourth bead of the previous six beads you added.

    • 5

Continue this way until your chevron chain project is the desired length. When finished, weave in the ends, using your beading needle, until they are secure and can no longer be seen.
