How to Convert QuickTime Videos to Windows Media Player
QuickTime videos, or MOVs, are one of the most common formats for video editing, and are a standard file type for QuickTime Player from Apple. WMVs (Windows Media Player Videos), however, are PC specific files that are mostly incompatible with Mac computers. PC users who wish to convert their MOVs to WMVs can do so using a number of programs from the Internet, as PCs do not come with standard video conversion software. These programs include Media Convert, VLC Media Player, and WinX Video Converter. Please allow several minutes to several hours for conversions to complete, depending on the size of your input video and compression standards.

Launch your web browser and go to media-convert.com. Click the "Browse..." button to allow the website access to your computer and select the "QuickTime" video in the pop-up window.

Set your "Input Format" to "Apple QuickTime (.mov)" and your "Output Format" to "Windows Media Video (.wmv)." If you are converting your QuickTime video for a specific WMV preset, you can choose from the drop-down list of options next to "Output Format."

Choose any advanced settings you may need, to include selecting just a portion of video to convert, or upping your video's bitrate for higher quality (which will result in a larger file size). Read the terms of use and click "OK" to begin the conversion.

Download VLC from VideoLan and install it. Agree to the terms of use and open your QuickTime video in VLC.

Select the "Streaming/Transcoding Wizard" option from the File menu. Choose to "Transcode/Save to File" and click "Next."

Choose "Existing Playlist Item" and highlight your video in the playlist window before clicking "Next." Enable the "Transcode Video" and "Transcode Audio" options, selecting a WMV output and desired audio selection. On the next screen, VLC will automatically choose an "Encapsulation Format" for you.

Click "Choose..." to tell your computer where to save your output file. Rename your file, including the ".wmv" file extension.

Review your summary screen. Click "Back" to make any necessary changes, or click "Finish" to begin converting your QuickTime video.
WinX Video Converter

Download WinX and agree to the terms of use. Install and open the program. Open your video by clicking the "Add" button in the software's interface and locating your video in the pop-up window.

Select the "WMV" tab from the export options and set your video's quality (if needed), as well as your audio format. For general conversions, it may be best to stick with the formats WinX selects for you automatically.

Click the "Browse..." button to choose your file's output destination and click the giant "Start" button to begin the conversion.
