How to Change the Position of Sales Tax on QuickBooks

How to Change the Position of Sales Tax on QuickBooks thumbnail
The default location for sales tax on QuickBooks invoices can be changed.

QuickBooks accounting software has been a godsend to many small business owners. It has allowed them to handle most, if not all of their accounting themselves "in house" rather than having to pay an accountant to do them. The powerful software makes complicated or involved accounting tasks a matter of simply a point and click with your computer mouse. The default position of the sales tax information on a QuickBooks invoice is in the detail line. It can be moved to a more logical position near the invoice total.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch QuickBooks and go to the Customer Center.

    • 2

Click on the "Transaction" tab, and select and open any invoice by double-clicking on it.

    • 3

Click on the "Customization" menu, and select "Additional Customization."

    • 4

Click the tab labeled "Footer." Then click to place a check mark in the two check boxes that are labeled "Subtotal" and "Sales Tax." Your sales tax will be moved to the footer area just below the subtotal and above the total for the invoice.
