How to Convert Pantone 647U to RGB
Many times for a web design project or other online use, you may need to convert a Pantone color to RGB. The Pantone Matching System (PMS) has been the acknowledged standard in professional 4-color printing since its introduction in 1963. With the explosion in web popularity, Pantone published RGB conversion charts in 2001. Converting the proprietary blue tint Pantone 647U to RGB is now a simple matter of using these conversion charts. The only colors that can't be RGB-rendered are Pantone metallic colors..
Instructions

1
Find Pantone 647U RGB-equivalent values or any other Pantone color you wish to convert. Pantone 647 is a blue hue; the U after any Pantone number means uncoated, as opposed to varnished, paper. This is not important with colors on a video screen. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator provide PMS color palettes as one of the choices for color matching to use for any file.
-
2
Locate the RGB conversion numbers on the Pantone scale. Pantone makes complete color booklets, and the colors can also be found online (see Resources).
-
-
3
Write down the appropriate RGB numeric values.
-
4
Enter the color values from the Pantone conversion table (647U in this instance converted to red-green-blue color components) in the RGB fields of the software program you're using. You will be working in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, or any other graphics program that allows for color settings and adjustments.
-
5
Verify the accuracy of your conversion numbers. A single digit variance can produce a completely different hue.
-
6
Save your document as RGB.
