Windows computers are usually preset to go to sleep after a certain amount of time to conserve energy. A touch of a button on a Microsoft digital keyboard will wake up the computer, and you will be right back to where you were before the computer went to sleep. Usually, Windows is already set so that you can touch any key on the keyboard to wake up the computer, but if for some reason this is not the case, it is good to know how to wake up the sleep function using a microsoft digital keyboard.

      Go to "Start menu" in the bottom left corner of the screen. Click to open up the menu and choose "Control Panel."

      Double click the "Systems" icon to open up systems preferences.

      Choose the "System Properties" window and click on the "Hardware" tab. Click on "Device Manager" to open up the manager in its own window.

      Look for "keyboard" under 'K' and right click on the keyboard you are using. Choose "Properties," and tick off in the box that says "Allow this device to wake computer." Save all changes and exit Device Manager.

  • In Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can type "Device Manager" in the Start menu search function to go there directly.
