Car Audio Amplifiers Installation Directions
Installing a new stereo system in you vehicle can include wiring a car audio amplifier to power a set of sub woofers or additional speakers. A car audio amplifier is connected to your car's battery, the main stereo unit and the speakers that you want to power with the amplifier. Car audio amplifier instructions typically include information for wiring the unit so that it works correctly in your vehicle.

Move the vehicle to an area where you can work, such as a garage. Open the hood of the vehicle and set the support bar.

Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery terminal using the wrench. Loosen the bolt on the battery cable and then take it off of the terminal.

Locate a hole in the firewall on the drivers side of the vehicle. There may be a rubber cover over a hole that you will need to remove.

Run a power cable through the hole in the firewall from the inside of the vehicle. Pull the cable through the hole and run it to the battery.

Install the holder for the fuse in the engine compartment as close to the battery as possible. Connect the cable to the positive battery terminal. Remove the nut from the bolt on the battery cable connector and place the O-ring of the power cable over the bolt. Replace the nut and tighten it with the wrench.

Insert the fuse into the fuse holder that you installed in step 5.

Snake the power cable through the interior of the vehicle and to the location of the car audio amplifier. Power amplifiers are often mounted in a car's trunk.

Locate the rear of the stereo and look for the RCA audio output connection. Insert the RCA audio cables into the audio outputs and then run the audio cable to the location of the amplifier.

Connect the power cable to the amplifier. The power cable should use a ring terminal to connect to the amplifier. Remove the screw on the power terminal on the amplifier with a screwdriver. Set the ring connector over the screw and then secure it to the terminal.

Plug the RCA audio cables into the RCA audio inputs on the amplifier.

Connect the wires from your speakers to the car audio amplifier. Push the button on the connector and then insert the speaker wire in the hole. Release the button to secure the speaker wire.

Connect the ring connector from the ground wire on the amplifier to a metal screw on the frame of the vehicle. Locate a metal screw and remove it with the screwdriver. Place the ring connector over the screw and then tighten it to secure the ground cable.

Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery terminal to complete the installation of the car audio amplifier.

Tips & Warnings
Hide the power cable and the RCA audio cable under the plastic molding that is along the edge of the vehicle.
The power cables and RCA audio cables should be located on the opposite sides of the vehicle to avoid interference.
If there is no hole in the firewall you will need to drill one from the inside of the vehicle with a power drill.
If you cannot locate a metal screw you will need to drill a hole in the vehicle for a metal screw to connect the ground wire.
