Instructions for a Fleece Tied Blanket
If you don't own a sewing machine, but you still want to make a blanket, you can make a fleece tied blanket that does not require sewing. The double-sided blanket is held together by a fringe along all of its edges. Fleece tied blankets make excellent gifts for new mothers and their babies and are also easy to complete for charity drives. The items you will need can easily be purchased at a fabric store.

1
Cut the two pieces of fleece to your desired size. If it is a baby blanket you should use one yard of fabric that is at least 40 inches wide. If it is an adult blanket you should use two yards of fleece that is at least 50 inches wide.
-
2
Lay one piece of fleece over the other so that the edges are lined up perfectly.
-
-
3
Cut out a paper square with sides the same size as your desired length of fringe. Four inches is a common fringe length.
-
4
Place the square on one of the corners of the laid out fleece so that two of its edges line up with the corner. Cut along the other edges of the square through both pieces of fleece. Repeat the step on all four corners.
-
5
Use the scissors to cut one-inch wide pieces of fringe that are the length you determined in step three. Continue around the entire blanket cutting through both pieces of fleece. Use a ruler to ensure that you are cutting the same length every time.
-
6
Starting at the upper left corner, make a knot using the first fringe from both the top and bottom fleece. Continue around the blanket until every piece of the top fringe is tied to the corresponding bottom fringe.

Tips & Warnings
Use two different patterns for the top and bottom of the blanket for a fun change.
Tape the two pieces of fleece together if you are concerned about them slipping while you are cutting the fringe. Remove the tape before you begin tying.
