How to Get HVAC Technician Certification

1. Get your official HVAC training. HVAC training can be found at technical and community colleges. You can get your HVAC technician certification in as little as half of a year, but you also have the option of getting a 2 year associates out of the program, which can possibly lead to higher paying HVAC jobs.

2. Look for an HVAC training apprenticeship. In some states, an apprenticeship can still take the place of a formal in-school training. This option takes more time than HVAC school but remember; apprenticeship programs typically pay you a wage while you're learning.

3. Take the HVAC certification test after you have completed your training period. Contact your state board for HVAC testing times and locations.
