Creative Homemade Gifts for Grandparents

Creative Homemade Gifts for Grandparents thumbnail
Make Grandma and Grandpa a gift they will cherish for years to come.

Aside from their parents, the most important people in many children's lives are their grandparents. Nothing thrills kids more than crafting a gift with their own two hands for these special people. Help your child make these gifts, whether they are Christmas presents or birthday gifts, in the comfort of your home with materials that can be found at most craft stores or retail chain stores. This craft will help keep your precocious little ones occupied, if only for an afternoon.

Instructions

  1. Family Tree

    • 1

Cut out the shape of a tree with several, longer branches from a piece of brown poster board. Cut the tree to the size you wish.

    • 2

Cut out several leaves of different sizes from green construction paper.

    • 3

Glue the leaves all over the branches of the tree with rubber cement, and allow the glue to dry for several hours.

    • 4

Glue a picture of the Grandma and Grandpa at the top of the tree. Write their names below the picture on the tree with black marker.

    • 5

Glue pictures of the grandparent's children on the tier of branches below the picture of the grandparents. Write their names just below these pictures as well.

    • 6

Glue pictures of the grandchildren on the tier of branches below the pictures of the children's parents. Write their names just below these pictures as well.

    • 7

Allow the glue to dry and place the family tree into a frame.

    Storybook

    • 8

Purchase a booklet of blank paper at a craft store.

    • 9

Assist the children in drawing pictures of them and their grandparents going on an adventure together with markers or crayons. Allow the kids to create their own stories. If they are having trouble, start them out in a castle or on a ship in the middle of the ocean.

    • 10

Wrap the book and present the gift to the happy grandparents.
