How to Make a Phone Call to France

Making a phone call to France requires that you know the specific numbers that you need to dial to connect with the person or business you are calling. When calling internationally from the United States, you must dial an exit code that signifies that you are making a call outside of the country. Then, you must know the country code, city code and number to complete the call. While this may seem a bit overwhelming, it is better than paying to make an international operator-assisted call.

• City code for specific city in France
• Phone number you are calling

Instructions

1. Pick up the handset of the phone you will use to make the call and dial "11," which is the United States exit code that signifies you are placing an international call.

3. Dial the phone number for the person or business you are calling and wait to be connected.

Tips & Warnings

• Know the time difference between where you are calling from and France. For instance, France is six hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time and seven hours ahead of Central Standard Time.
