How Can I Alter My MSN Web Messenger Contact List?
MSN Messenger, also known as Windows Live Messenger, has many customization and organization options. Most importantly, you can change the way you view your contact list. By using the Windows Live options and categories, you can change your list to view it in groups and personalize how you view each contact. Doing this will make contacts easier to find within your list.

Log in to Windows Live Messenger.

Click on the main menu. It will be showing your status.

Select "Options."

Click "Layout" on the left task pane.

Change options for the Contacts List. You can change the size of the avatars on the list, change labels, change organization and choose whether you want to show offline contacts.

Click "OK" when you are done.

Click the "Show Menu" icon to the right of the "Search Contacts" box.

Highlight "Contacts" and a new menu appears. You will be able to choose to create, edit or delete contact categories. Categories organize your contact list, and you can name the categories whatever you want. When you create a new category, enter the category name and select the contacts you want included in that group. Editing a contact category will allow you to change the name of the group and add and remove people. Deleting a category will delete the group, but your contacts will still be on your contact list.
