Program Keyless Entry Neon Instructions

The Dodge Neon was produced from 1995 to 2006. Generation two was the final body style (2000 to 2005). The first generation Dodge Neon (1995 to 1999) was available with keyless entry on upper level trims, but the system was not owner programmable; only a Dodge dealer can program these models. The second generation Dodge Neon's keyless entry was owner programmable. In order to program the keyless entry on a Dodge Neon, you'll need a currently working keyless remote, required to enter programming mode. If you don't have one, you'll need to visit a Dodge dealer for programming.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your key in the ignition and turn it to "Run" (position number three--don't start the engine).

    • 2

Press and hold "Unlock" on a currently programmed remote for ten seconds. Continue to hold "Unlock," and then press the "Panic" (alarm) button. Release both buttons; the system will chime.

    • 3

Press "Lock" on each remote you want to program (consecutively--not simultaneously). During this time, you'll also need to press "Lock" on each previously programmed remote because entering programming mode erases every stored code.

    • 4

Turn the ignition to "Off" and remove the key to finalize the procedure.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can program up to four remotes to your Dodge Neon.

  • This procedure also applies to the Plymouth Neon (2000 to 2001).
