How to Repair a Windows Vista Screensaver
Problems in running your Windows Vista screensaver often stem from the inability of Windows to locate the screensaver file or photos folder. Perhaps you moved it without realizing or perhaps a glitch caused Windows to lose it. Vista contains several bugs that affect screensavers, particularly when a user uses a wireless mouse.

Click the Windows Orb and select "Control Panel."

Select "Appearance and Personalization" and from there, "Personalization."

Click "Screen Saver."

Select the screensaver you wish to use. This resets the system settings and allows you to relocate the file or folder if necessary.

Click "Preview" to test your screensaver. If it doesn't work, continue to step 6.

Select another screensaver and click "Preview." If this one does not work as well, something is wrong with Windows and you should continue to the next section. If the steps in section 2 do not work, the problem lies with your particular screensaver. The file may have become corrupted, in which case it is best to redownload the file from the original source.
Updating Your System

Select "All Programs" from the Windows Orb and click "Windows Update."

Scan your drive for Updates. Depending on when you last updated your computer, you might be presented with a long list. If you do not wish to download them all, select only the one labeled "HID Non-User Input Data Filter."

Click "Download." You will need to restart your computer when the download completes.
