A career working for the United States Army is rewarding and offers several benefits, including a competitive retirement plan and up to 26 days of vacation each year. Regardless of your college experience or military history, the Army offers jobs that fit your background. Applying for a job with the Army is different from other careers, as it is difficult to get on a military base to fill out an application; therefore, you must submit your application on line.

Instructions

1. 

   Civilians hold a variety of jobs with the Army.

   Go to cpol.army.mil. Civilian Personnel Online (CPOL) allows you to search for jobs and submit your resume through their website. Locate the "Employment" button in the middle of the page and click on it. A page with various information regarding civilian jobs with the United States Army will appear.

2. 

   Polish your resume and submit to CPOL.

   Establish a free account. Find the "Build a Resume/View Status" tab on the left side of the page and select it. The Army Civilian Resume Builder will open. Click "Register" to set up your new account. Submit your resume by choosing "Create/ Edit Resume." CPOL does not offer a spell-check feature; therefore, it is a good idea to copy and paste from a word processing program and spell-check before pasting.

3. 

   Search for jobs that fit your abilities.

   Return to the Civilian Personnel Online "Employment" page. Click on "Search for Jobs" and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Highlight the type of job you're looking for and type in any keywords that are applicable. If your search is focused on a specific state, select it. Click on the "Get Results" button.

4. 

   Submit your electronic application. to CPOL

   Apply for jobs. If you see positions that meet your qualifications and you wish to apply, click on the link in the left column. Review all of the eligibility requirements for the job then scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click on the "Self Nominate" link. Enter your information in the form provided and submit it. A confirmation will be sent to your email address.
