1
Hold the tension rod at the top of the shower and begin to twist the rod until the ends meet the wall. Tension rods are spring loaded so you will need to twist until you have a tight and secure fit.

2
Add the shower curtain hooks to the tension rod. The number of hooks will depend on the shower curtain. It is easier to add the hooks after the rod is in place, so they don't fall off during the installation process.

Hang the shower curtain on the hooks. Once in place, move the shower curtain to the length of the shower walls to insure water does not escape.

Tips & Warnings
Tension rods come in various lengths and colors. A typical shower rod is five feet long. Choose a length at least two inches longer than the length of the shower area, in order to secure a firm fit. Be sure to measure the length of the tub wall before buying a rod.
Most decorative shower curtains do not include a water resistant liner. A protective shower curtain liner may be needed to add an additional water barrier, and can be purchased at your local homeware store.
Beware of placing heavy towels or clothing on the tension rod, as this can cause the rod to become loose. If this happens, twist the tension rod tighter in place.
