How Do I Drag a Photo Opened in Adobe Photoshop Into a Quark Layout? thumbnail
Photoshop pictures import directly into QuarkXPress.

QuarkXpress, one of the two leading page layout software programs, handles the import of photographs differently than its closest competitor, Adobe InDesign, which allows users to drag and drop photos directly from Adobe Photoshop. However, the process is simple and can be done quickly.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a picture box in the Quark layout using the "Picture Content Tool" located on the Toolbar. If you are unfamiliar with the tool names, let your cursor hover over each tool a couple of seconds and its name will pop up.

    • 2

Click inside the Quark picture box to activate it. From the top menu bar, choose "File," then "Import" ("Get Picture" in older versions) from the pull down menu. A window will open.

    • 3

Navigate to the photo you wish to use and click on it. Click "Open" at the bottom of the window.

    • 4

Re-size the photo if needed after it appears in the picture box. Use the X% and Y% controls on the Measurement tool bar to change the size of the picture. If the Measurement tool bar is not open across the bottom of your layout, open it from the top menu bar by choosing "Windows," then "Measurements" from the pull down menu.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although it is possible to open a picture in Photoshop, select all, and then copy the picture from Photoshop and paste the picture into the Quark picture box, the result will be of low resolution screen quality and is not recommended for any use that requires high quality images, such as commercial printing.
