How to Clean a Brother 2800 Fax Machine
How you clean any fax machine depends on if it is an inkjet, ribbon transfer or a laser model. The Brother IntelliFax-2800 machine is a laser fax machine that handles plain paper. If you noticed that your fax machine produces documents with smudges or lines, do not worry. The simple process of cleaning your fax machine can easily fix that. You can even prevent document smudges if you include cleaning the screen glass and the print cartridges in your maintenance routine.
Things You'll Need
- White cloth (lint free, microfiber)
- Keyboard vacuum cleaner or gas duster
- Water
- Window cleaner or rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol)
- Laser fax cleaning sheets

Unplug both the telephone line and the power cord before you start the cleaning process.

Use either a small keyboard vacuum cleaner or compressed air to remove any loose dust and dirt from the exterior of your fax machine.

Wipe the exterior of the Brother IntelliFax-2800 machine with a lint-free white cloth, lightly dampened with water. After you remove all visible dirt and dust, open the fax machine by removing the screws on the bottom and sliding the case off. Find the scanner glass. It is likely to have same dirt from the ink of all the scanned documents.

Moisten another piece of lint-free cloth with a quality window cleaner or some rubbing alcohol. Gently wipe the scanner glass. Make sure everything is completely dry before moving on to the next step.

Remove the print cartridge and carefully wipe it with a slightly damp piece of lint-free cloth. Wait for the cartridge to dry. Put it back, and close the fax machine.

Slide the casing back on the machine. Tighten the screws on the bottom of the fax machine.

Plug the Brother IntelliFax-2800 machine back in so you can use a special cleaning sheet for the remaining dirt inside the cartridge. Simply run it through your Brother 2800 fax machine like an ordinary piece of paper. This way the print cartridge gets a more thorough cleaning.
