How to Do a National Raffle
A national raffle has the potential to reach more people than a local raffle, allowing you to sell more tickets. If you are raffling off a big prize like a house, car or cruise by offering raffle tickets at the right price, your national raffle can be a success. The cause the raffle is supporting also is important. Some causes generate more concern and donations than others.
Instructions

1
Determine the raffle prize to be awarded to the winner. Also determine if there will be second- and third-place prizes in addition to the grand prize
-
2
Calculate the minimum number of tickets that need to be sold to cover the cost of the prizes. If offering a large grand prize like a home, car, or cruise, consider establishing an alternate prize like raffle money minus the expenses in case the ticket sales do not reach the minimum needed for the large raffle prize.

3
Consult a business or non-profit attorney to write up the legal terms and conditions according to your local state laws. The attorney will be knowledgeable on the applicable state laws and regulations for holding a national raffle in your organization's headquarter state.
-
4
Advertise the national raffle. Consider using online, print, radio, and/or television outlets that fit your advertising needs and budget.
-
5
Sell the raffle tickets and hold the raffle on the scheduled and advertised day and time. Some raffles are conducted for a specific time period while other raffles are conducted until a certain number of predetermined raffle tickets have been sold.
-
6
Contact the raffle winners. Distribute the agreed upon prizes.
