How to Clear Asus K8v-Mx BIOS
Your computer's BIOS is low-level software programmed into the motherboard that is responsible for controlling how your computer's components interact with each other. Without the BIOS, your computer is incapable of booting. Clearing a BIOS erases any settings that may be present in the BIOS and resets your motherboard to its factory-default state. If you want to clear your Asus K8v-MX BIOS, you will lose all custom settings and upgrades on the BIOS.
Instructions
-
-
1
Shut down your computer and unplug all peripherals from its ports. Unplug the computer and open the case.
-
2
Remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. The CMOS battery is located to the right of the PCI slots on your K8V-MX motherboard.
-
-
3
Locate the three "Clear Real Time Clock" pins on the motherboard. The pins are in a row near the bottom-right corner of the board and are labeled "CLRTC." In the default position, a small, plastic jumper connects pins 1 and 2. Pin 3 is exposed.
-
4
Use your needle-nose pliers to pull the jumper off of pins 1 and 2. Pull the jumper straight up; do not bend or twist the pins when removing the jumper.
-
5
Connect pins 2 and 3 with the jumper. Position the jumper over pins 2 and 3 and push the jumper straight down with the tip of the needle-nose pliers. Leave pins 2 and 3 connected for five to ten seconds.
-
6
Pull the jumper off of pins 2 and 3. Reconnect pins 1 and 2 with the jumper to restore the "CLRTC" pins to their default setting. Replace the CMOS battery removed in step 2.
-
7
Close your computer's case and plug the power cable and all peripherals back into the computer.
-
8
Start your computer; the BIOS will be reset to its default settings. Press "Delete" if you want to enter the BIOS and change the default settings.
