How to Remove HP Recovery From a Hard Disk

HP computers routinely come with a "Recovery Partition," a section of the hard drive that is partitioned off and includes a complete copy of the operating system that you can restore on the computer should the need arise. If you want to remove this recovery partition and free up your hard drive space, you can do so. Be aware that once you remove this partition, you can no longer recover your computer from it.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that the computer is plugged in. Click the "Start" button, click "All Programs," select "Recovery Manager" and then click on "Recovery Manager" again.

    • 2

Click "Next" and then click the "Advanced Options" button. Select the "Remove recovery partition" option and then click "Next." Select the "Yes" button, click "Next" and the recovery partition will be removed.

    • 3

Restart your computer once the process is complete to gain access to the hard drive space freed up by the removal of the recovery partition.
