• Pay stubs

Instructions

1. Gather together all of your household's pay stubs and bills from the last month. You'll need some information from them to answer the questions on a website.

2. Go to the New Jersey Helps website and choose either "English" or "Spanish." Then, click "Continue." Click "Continue" again on the "List of Programs" page.

3. Answer all of the questions to the best of your ability. You will need to provide information about your household, your income and your expenses. Once you have answered all the questions, the system will let you know if you qualify for food stamps.

4. Fill out the application that is provided on the website if you qualify for assistance. You can also go to your local office to fill out the application there.

• If you need assistance with the pre-qualification questions, call your local office for help. You can find the number and address to your counties office in the phone book, or online at state.nj.us/humanservices/dfd/programs/foodstamps/cwa/index.html.

• Be truthful in your application. Providing false information could earn you a jail sentence.
