Crafting With Freezer Paper

Freezer paper is typically used to wrap food items that you want to store in the freezer. You can, however, use freezer paper to create personalized fabric items, such as totes, T-shirts and hoodies in a little time. All you need are some very inexpensive supplies from the fabric crafting section of the craft store. You don't need to be a crafting pro or even an experienced crafter to complete your own freezer paper screen printing project.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure and cut a piece of freezer paper that is 8 1/2 by 11 inches.

    • 2

Select a design online or from your computer that you would like to screen print onto a fabric item. Adjust the size of the design so that it is the size that you would like it to appear on your fabric item.

    • 3

Load your sheet of freezer paper into the printer so that the design will be printed on the dull side of the paper. Print your design on the paper. You want to try and center the design on the paper so that you have a nice margin on all sides of the design.

    • 4

Let your printed design dry, then place it on a cutting mat and cut the design out with a craft knife. Take your time and try to cut smooth cuts.

    • 5

Iron the fabric item that you will be screen printing on to remove any wrinkles.

    • 6

Iron your freezer paper stencil onto the fabric item, shiny side down, where you want the design to be.

    • 7

Use a stencil brush to fill in the design with fabric paint. Carefully peel away the freezer paper once the design is completely filled in and set the item aside to dry.
