How Can You Fax Using a Dell A940 & DSL?

The Dell A940 is an all-in-one printer that allows you to copy, print and fax documents with just one tool. With the help of a data/fax modem, DSL phone line and this printer, you can send copies of a document to an individual waiting at another fax machine. Faxing a page occurs when the printer scans the paper, creates an image file and then utilizes faxing software to project that picture over the DSL line. With the A940 unit, you will be able to send one page or multiple pages without even stepping away from your computer.

Instructions

Single Page

1. Place the document face down under the lid of the printer. Align the corner of your document to the upper corner of the scanning glass.

2. Press the "Fax" button on the front of your printer.

3. Follow the instructions provided with your fax software to send the fax.

Multiple Pages

1. Click the "Start" button at the bottom of your computer desktop. This will open the start menu.

2. Move to "All Programs" in the start menu.

3. Locate "Dell Printers" on the start menu. Select "Dell AIO Printer A940" and then "Dell All-In-One Center."

4. Choose "See More Scan Settings" from the All-In-One-Center menu that pops up on your screen.

5. Select "Advanced Scan Settings" from the dialog box.

6. Move to select "Scan multiple items before output." This will allow you to copy all the pages before faxing. Press the "Ok" button on the dialog box to continue.

7. Click on the arrow next to "Send scanned image" and choose "Fax" from the drop down menu.

8. Place the first page of your document under the printer lid. Align the corner of your document to the top corner of the scan glass under the printer lid.

9. Move back to the computer screen and click "Preview Now."

10. Click "No" under "All pages you want to fax are scanned" and replace the page in the printer with the next page to fax. Continue this process until all pages have scanned.

11. Click "Yes" once all pages have scanned. This will prompt the fax software to open. Follow the instructions on your software to complete the fax.
