Hosting sales training seminars can be a wonderful thing for a salesman or marketer. It can build your credibility in the field, allow you to build contacts, and even make you some money directly, if you become good at it. So why isn't everyone doing it? It's not as easy as it sounds, that's why. With a bit of time and determination, however, you can start hosting sales training seminars right away.

Difficulty: Moderate

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sales Knowledge/Experience
  • A plan
  1. 1

Make a plan. You need to decide what specific topic or topics you want to cover for your seminar, how many people you would like there, and what kind of environment you want.

  2. 2

Do your research. Hosting sales training seminars is impossible if you don't know enough about sales. You should focus on your specific industry (Auto, real estate, etc), and talk to industry leaders. They usually won't mind giving out tips. Research in the form of books is also recommended.

  3. 3

Grab a location. Once you feel ready, set a date and start location hunting. You can rent a room or have sales training seminars in the park. It all depends on you.

  4. 4

Advertise. Tell your friends, family, and especially your business partners and colleagues. Flyers in relevant areas and free ad sites can help promote your sales training seminars as well.

  5. 5

Relax. Even if only a few people show up, or things don't go as planned, it's okay. This should be more fun than it is stressful. And, as long as you have quality information to give out, any other mishaps most likely won't matter.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you're just starting out, it's best to have smaller sales training seminars in an informal setting. It's less intimidating.
  • Practice makes perfect. If you mess up, just try again later on.
  • I don't recommend charging money until you've built up your credibility and expertise in the area. Otherwise, people might think you're just trying to scam them.

on 3/3/2010 This was a very good article. There is a lot of wisdom in overinviting just in case many won't show up. I have done that when I had parties. Keep up the good work, and thanks so much for reading and rating my articles!
