Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a zip tool for removing the vinyl siding. This hooking tool, designed specifically for siding removal, can be purchased at most home improvement centers for around $5.

    • 2

Work from the top of the house down. Each siding panel is connected to the panel above, making the job much quicker if you work your way down the house.

    • 3

Begin working in a corner of the top siding panel. Push the zip tool underneath the corner of the siding panel.

    • 4

Hook the lip of zip tool to the lip of the siding panel. You will not be able to see the lip because it is on the back side of the siding panel, but you can feel it once you get the zip tool behind the panel.

    • 5

Pull the zip tool downward and towards you once it has been latched onto the siding lip. Slide the zip tool horizontally along the siding panel.

    • 6

Continue this process all the way to the other end of the siding panel. The siding panel now will be hanging freely with the nail strip exposed.

    • 7

Lift up the siding panel to remove the nails from the nail strip. Pry out each nail with the claw end of a hammer. Use carpenter's pincer pliers for tough nails that will not come out with the hammer claw.

    • 8

Push down on the siding panel with your hands once all of the nails have been removed. This will completely remove the panel.
