How to Uninstall XP Service Pack 1

Click the Windows "Start" menu and click "Run." Type "appwiz.cpl" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to launch the uninstall menu.

Click the "Show updates" check box on the top of the programs list. You should see a list of the system updates. Scroll down the list and click "Servicepack.exe."

Click "Remove" to launch the uninstall wizard. Follow the guided prompts to complete the uninstallation. Restart your computer when prompted.

Click the Windows "Start" button and click "Run." Type "cmd" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to launch the command prompt.

Type "c:\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to change the default folder in the command prompt. Type "Spuninst.exe" (without quotes) and press "Enter" to launch the Service Pack 1 uninstall wizard.

Follow the guided prompts to uninstall Service Pack 1. Type "Exit" and press "Enter" when done. Restart your computer.
