How to Create Population Pyramids Online

You can make your population pyramid online.

By viewing a population pyramid, which depicts information based on the age/sex method, you can examine data such as age, sex, life expectancy and population growth. If you are an advanced user of statistics, you may wish to use a spreadsheet application to create your population pyramid. Luckily, for the rest of us, there is a way to generate a population pyramid online.

1. Gather your data and sort it out properly within the age groups. Remember to try and keep an even number of males and females within each age group.

2. Find a website to create your population pyramid. You can access a free population pyramid tool by going to statisticum.org. A link is provided in the Resources section.

3. Create a title and a subtitle for your population pyramid. Give both males and females a separate color to be used for the graph, and remember to enter the year that the data was collected, as well the area and source that it comes from.

4. Insert your data into the required fields. In the left column, make sure that the age groups are sorted from the youngest to the oldest. In the right column, include the number of females and males who fall into each of the age groups.

5. Type in your name and email address and click "Submit" to view your population pyramid.
