Small pieces of glass or stone are glued and grouted into a pattern to form a mosaic.

Weldbond is an adhesive that is commonly used in mosaic art. Typically, the mosaic pieces are glued down to the surface to be covered with the adhesive and then the gaps between each individual mosaic piece are filled with grout. However, it is also possible to mix Weldbond directly into the grout to create a super strong mosaic. This mixture is also appropriate for broken mosaic repair projects.

Instructions

    • 1

Mix grout with 1 part Weldbond and 1 part water, mixing thoroughly. This results in a thick paste. It should be smooth with no lumps or dry bits. Avoid breathing grout dust when mixing and follow any other instructions on the grout packaging.

    • 2

Apply the grout mixture to your project as you would normally use grout.

    • 3

Let the grout cure according to label instructions, usually a couple of days. You can mist it very lightly with water occasionally as it cures to prevent cracking as it dries. Don't let water sit on it, moisten it only.

    • 4

      Seal your project if desired.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wear goggles and rubber gloves when grouting to avoid eye and skin irritation and don't breathe the grout dust when mixing.
