How to Become a Hunter Safety Course Instructor
Hunter safety course instructors play an important role in keeping new hunters safe as they go afield. Anyone who qualifies can become a hunting safety instructor by following a few simple steps.

Qualified hunters can become instructors. Contact the appropriate state conservation agency or one of the national hunter safety organizations to determine how to apply. Each state is different, but all of them require that the applicant qualify. There are also nationally certified hunting safety instructors that offer firearms safety courses. These instructors offer instruction through the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the International Hunter Education Association (IHEA).

Complete the hunter safety application. Complete an application. The written application will ask for information that attests to an applicant's honesty and stability.

Fees are usually required. Pay the required fees. There is sometimes an application fee or fees for the required preliminary and advanced training courses.

Pass a written exam. Many states require that a specified percentage of right answers be obtained on the exam to receive a passing score.
