Easy Repair for USB Headsets
A USB headset is a combination of headphones and a microphone. Typically, these devices plug right into any USB port on a computer. Every once in a while, you can run into problems where the headset doesn't function properly. Ranging from crackling noises in the headsets to the computer not even recognizing the device, these problems can usually be corrected in just a few minutes.

1
Remove the USB headset from the computer and let it sit for a while if the headset is wet. Moisture in the speakers or microphone causes the device to crackle. Allowing it to dry out before using it fixes the problem.
-
2
Unplug the USB cable from the USB port and plug it into a different USB port. There may be a problem with your specific port. (Occasionally USB ports can die.)

3
Open your Web browser. You may have removed the driver for the headset when deleting other items from your computer and need to reinstall it. Make your way to the headset manufacturer's site.
-
4
Select "Support" and look up your headset's product name. Chose the operating system of your computer.
-
5
Click the "Download" tab for the available driver. It only takes a moment to download to your computer. Once the download is complete, double-click the downloaded file to open the installation wizard. Follow the prompts, leaving the prompts as the default settings. Click "Install," and the driver will install, allowing you to use your USB headset.
