How to Uninstall Vista Transformation Pack 8

How to Uninstall Vista Transformation Pack 8 thumbnail
The Vista Transformation Pack includes a built-in uninstall utility that you can use to remove it from the computer.

The Vista Transformation Pack is a free add-on for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 that changes the visual elements of the operating system to make it look like the more recent Windows Vista. One downside of the Vista Transformation Pack is that it can cause a significant drain on system resources with slower computers. If you have tried the Vista Transformation Pack and determined that its performance is not acceptable on your machine, uninstall it from your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows Orb if the Vista Transformation Pack is currently running, or the "Start" button if it is not.

    • 2

      Click "Control Panel."

    • 3

      Double-click "Add or Remove Programs."

    • 4

Click "Vista Transformation Pack 8.0," then click the "Change/Remove" button. This launches the Vista Transformation Pack Welcome Center.

    • 5

      Click "Remove Vista Transformation Pack."

    • 6

Select "Backup system files" under "Restore system files from." Note that if you selected not to back up the original system files from your computer when installing the Vista Transformation Pack (which is not the default option), you have to provide the original Windows XP CD to restore the XP system files. When prompted, navigate to the location of the Windows XP CD and click "OK."

    • 7

Click "Perform Uninstalling." After a moment, the computer prompts you to restart Windows. Click "OK." When the computer restarts, the Vista Transformation Pack is removed. Note that if you also installed any third-party software such as Rainmeter, you need to uninstall it separately.
