Recycle CD Cases

Many people store their CDs on spindles or in CD holders, leaving a pile of useless CD cases. Tempting as it might be to throw them away, recycling is a better option.

Instructions

    • 1

      Take the CD cases to a recycling center that accepts CD jewel cases. Visit Earth911 to find such a center near you (see Resources). Also consider sending them to companies that specialize in recycling CDs and other computer-related items, such as GreenDisk and CD Recycling Center of America (see Resources).

      Donate the cases. Your local library, for example, might use them to replace cases for DVDs and CDs in circulation.

      Join a local Freecycle group. Freecycle is a network of groups of people who give and receive items free. List your CD cases for those who might need them. Visit Freecycle.org to find a group in your area.

      Find other uses for the CD cases. The cases could be used for craft projects, for instance, or as storage for other objects.
