Push on the bin release button at the rear of the vacuum and empty the bin. The dirt bin is very small and gets full quickly. Remove the filter from the dirt bin and separate it from the filter compartment. Tap off all the dust and dirt; use the soft brush to ensure all the dirt is off. If the filter is very dirty, run it under warm water to clean. Dry thoroughly before placing it back into the iRobot Roomba. With regular maintenance, the filters last up to three months before they need to be replaced.

2
Turn the iRobot Roomba upside down and pull the yellow tabs to remove the brush guard to remove the brushes and brush caps for cleaning after every use. Examine the brushes and use scissors or tweezers to dislodge hair and dirt that is wrapped around the brushes, bearings and brush caps. Clean with soft brush or rinse with water and allow to dry before putting back into the iRobot Roomba. Keeping the brushes clean will allow them to spin correctly when the iRobot Roomba moves. Replace the brushes yearly.

3
Use the soft brush to clear any dirt from the outside of the iRobot Roomba; take care to remove dirt and hair from around the wheels and the air vent at the back.

4
Recharge the iRobot Roomba promptly and fully after each cleaning cycle to avoid damage to the battery. The battery should be good for 60 to 120 minutes of cleaning time before it needs charging and will run for hundreds of cycles before it needs replacing. If the charge is lasting considerably less than that, reset the battery and get a little longer life out of it. Reset the battery by turning the iRobot Roomba over and removing the battery. Turn the machine upright again and press the power button for between 15 and 30 seconds. Charge the iRobot Roomba completely and leave plugged in for up to 3 days.
