How to Replace the Cyan Laser Scanner
Color laser printers can be very useful, and the quality of the documents they produce can be much higher than comparable inkjet printers. But in order to get the most from those color printers and print/scan/copy all-in-one units, it is important to know when and how to change the color toner cartridges. Color printers use four different color cartridges--black, yellow, magenta and cyan--to create all the colors of the rainbow, and if that color balance is not correct, the print quality will be poor.

1
Walk over to the printer and look at the control panel. When the cyan toner begins to get low, a "cyan toner low" message will appear on the control panel.
-
2
Wait until the "cyan toner out" message appears before you change the toner. Color laser printers and all-in-one units are designed to print quality documents until the toner cartridges are completely empty. With the cost of color laser toner so high, it is important for printer owners to make the most of every cartridge they buy.

3
Open the top of the printer. The cyan toner should already be in place and waiting to be removed. If the cyan toner is not in position, press the "Select" button on the printer to move it into place.
-
4
Lift up carefully on the cyan toner and pull it free of the printer. Set the used toner aside. Line the new cyan toner up with the slot in the printer and set it in place. You should feel the print cartridge snap into place.
-
5
Close the printer cover and send a test page to the printer to make sure the color balance is correct. Place the used toner in the box for recycling. The new toner cartridge should have included a return label you can use to send the old cartridge back for recycling.
