Beehive Hairdo Directions
The beehive is a retro hairdo that showcases big hair. It was introduced in the 60's and has been used ever since. The style got its name from the obvious resemblance to a real beehive. The hairdo is large with rounded edges and is sturdy because of all the product used to create it. Creating a smooth, swept up beehive hairdo yourself isn't as hard as it seems and only requires some backcombing and a lot of of hairspray. Does this Spark an idea?

1

-
2
Remove the curlers and spray down all of your hair with hairspray.
-
-
3
Allow the hairspray to dry and comb out the curls using your fingers.
Style the beehive
-
4
Use a comb to part your hair from ear to ear. Secure the front section in a hair clip to keep it out of the way.
-
5
Pull all the hair in the back section to a high ponytail and secure with a hair elastic. Use a comb to backcomb, or tease, all the hair of the ponytail. Teasing is done by swishing a comb up and down a single section of hair to create intense volume.
-
6
Take out the hair clip that is holding the front section of hair. Carefully pull the front section, piece by piece, up and over the teased ponytail. Pull the sides of the front section over to the side, hiding the empty space underneath the ponytail. Secure with bobby pins, and continue until the entire front section is combed and secured smoothly over the teased ponytail, hiding it but using the volume to create the beehive.
-
7
Tuck all the loose ends of hair underneath to hide. Use more bobby pins to secure.
-
8
Mist the entire hairdo with lots of hairspray to set it.
