How to Make Jewelry Like Kiki Kannibal

Kiki Kannibal, an underground celebrity to Internet "scene kids," creates interesting and wild emo-style accessories and jewelry that can be worn on a variety of occasions. Miss Kannibal's unique and colorful jewelry displays wild creativity, eye-catching style and whimsy. Creating your own versions of Kiki Kannibal's jewelry can be a simple task with the right tools and the desire to create.

Things You'll Need

• Assorted large, plastic beads (colorful variety)
• Assorted small plastic beads (colorful)
• Leather cord necklace
• Crimper beads
• Pliers
• Large decal (of your choice)
• Hole puncher
• Silver jewelry ring (small)

Instructions

1. 

   A colorful variety of beads

   Choose six large, plastic beads and set them aside. Bright colors like neon pink, canary yellow and even jet black are similar to Kiki's style.

2. Choose 12 small plastic beads and set them aside. Choose the same colors as the large beads, or choose different colors for an alternating theme.

3. Slide all of the beads in an alternating pattern down the leather cord. Make sure that two of the large beads are located directly in the center of the cord.

4. Affix a crimper bead using the pliers on either side of each of the large beads on the cord, leaving the smaller beads to move freely.

5. Choose a desirable decal for the centerpiece of the necklace. Materials such as vinyl, acrylic and enamel make frequent appearances in Kiki's jewelry work. Making your own decal is an excellent idea, following the steps as laid out in Section 2.

6. Punch a hole in the top center of the decal.

7. Pry open the closed jewelry ring, and slide through the punched hole in the decal.

8. Slip the exposed part of the leather cord, between the two large beads in the center, through the opened jewelry ring. Make sure to hold the decal on the ring as well.

9. Close the jewelry ring securely with the pliers.

Decal Charm

1. Use a stencil to draw a design of your choice on a strip of black pleather, or real leather. Repeat by drawing the same design on a piece of card stock paper. Make each design large, measuring approximately 3 inches in diameter or larger. Designs like flower buds, spooky bats and diamond shapes are signature Kiki Kannibal looks.

2. Cut out each design carefully.

3. Layer the leather (or pleather) cut-out directly on top of the card stock cut out. Glue them together.

4. Embellish the decal with fabric glue around the edges.

5. Allow the decal to dry before adding it to your necklace.
