How to Operate a Timex E-Compass Watch

Set the date on your watch. Start by removing the plastic guard on the watch's center crown. Pull the center crown out to the middle position and keep turning it clockwise until the desired date appears on the watch display. Repeat this step at the end of each month that has fewer than 31 days.

Pull the watch's center crown out to the last position to set the time. Turn the center crown clockwise until the watch hands move to the desired time. Push the center crown all the way back in when you are finished setting the time and date on the Timex E-Compass.

Adjust the compass hand before attempting to calibrate or operate the watch's compass feature. Pull the center crown out to the last position and press either the "Push" button or lower crown to set the compass hand to 12 o’clock.

Pull the watch's center crown to the middle position and press the "Push" button or lower crown to calibrate the compass. Lay your watch face down on a flat surface and slowly rotate the watch two revolutions. Press the "Push" button or lower crown again, then push the center crown all the way back in to complete compass calibration.

Activate the compass on your Timex E-Compass by holding the watch level and pressing the "Push" button or lower crown. The compass will remain on for 20 seconds; press the "Push" button or lower crown to extend the time by another 20 seconds. Use your Timex E-Compass to find out which way you are traveling by holding the watch so that 12 o’clock is facing your direction of travel. Press the lower crown until the compass hand points to "North" on the outer compass ring. Read the outer compass ring at the 12 o'clock point to determine the direction you are heading.
