How to Manufacture a Cardboard Box

How to Manufacture a Cardboard Box thumbnail
Making a box is a straightforward task.

To manufacture a cardboard box you just need cardboard, a few tools and some attention to detail. Keeping everything square and carefully measured is the most important part to getting a good result. If you start with a piece of factory-made cardboard, you can use the edges and your t-square to keep everything parallel and in line. From there it is simply a matter of making clean cuts. A new blade in the utility knife works wonders.

Instructions

    • 1

On the top of your cardboard, mark out the width you want your box to be on the top edge in the center.

    • 2

Use the t-square to draw parallel lines from the marks you just made, down the cardboard to the opposite edge of the cardboard.

    • 3

Measure in from the top of each line (the top edge of the cardboard) the distance of the height of the box. Make a mark on each line and connect them with a line parallel to the top edge of the box.

    • 4

Start at the new line, and measure down toward the bottom of the cardboard the distance of the length of your box. Do this for both lines, and connect the marks as you did in the previous step.

    • 5

Repeat this step, but measure the height of the box again, as you did for Step 3.

    • 6

Begin at the bottom of the new rectangle, and repeat Step 4, measuring the length of the box down each line and connecting the marks. You will have four rectangles in a row. The second rectangle from the top is the bottom of your box.

    • 7

Measure from the bottom of the box out to the left and right the distance of the height of the box, extend the lines to the left and right the distance of the height of the box. You will now have a cross-like shape which will fold into a box.

    • 8

Cut out the box using the utility knife.

    • 9

Score the lines between the rectangles.

    • 10

Fold the sides of the box up and tape.
