1
Measure 2 inches in from each side of the window frame with a tape measure and draw a line with a pencil on the frame above the window. This will guide you where to place the brackets.
-
2
Hold one of the metal mounting brackets against the line that you made on the window frame. Repeat this for the other mounting bracket. While you are holding the bracket with one hand, use the other hand to hold a carpenter's level to make sure the brackets are even. Draw a mark with a pencil where the screw holes will go in the brackets.

3
Drill a hole with a drill that has a 1/16-inch bit to make pilot holes at each screw mark you made.
-
4
Align the bracket with the screw holes. Use a flat screwdriver or screwdriver bit to secure the screws. Follow this procedure for the other bracket.
-
5
Loosen the small screws, or brace screws, on the underside of the mounting brackets. Push the shade all the way up and hook the front edge of the head rail onto the lip of each bracket. Push the back of the head rail toward the window and tighten the brace screws to secure the shades in the brackets.
-
6
Grab the bottom rail or long metal piece in the middle and pull down until the shade is fully extended. While your hand is still in the center of the bottom rail, push up to raise the shade.

Tips & Warnings
Make sure you do not get the fabric of the shades caught in the brackets when you are tightening the screws.
If the shade appears too short when you first install it, leave it fully extended for a day or two until you see the fabric has relaxed.
