How to Find a Certified Federal Resume Writer

How to Find a Certified Federal Resume Writer thumbnail
A Certified Federal Resume Writer can prepare a professional federal application.

A Federal Resume is a comprehensive resume that serves as an application for a federal position. According to Federal Job Resume, an online resume service provider, a Federal Resume incorporates all aspects of your professional career and personal accomplishments. A Federal Resume's length is typically between two and ten pages, and is designed to contain searchable keywords about an applicant's skills and qualifications. Because the smallest of errors or omissions can disqualify an applicant from consideration, many applicants employ a Certified Federal Resume Writer (CFRW) to complete the resume.

Instructions

    • 1

Assemble data for your application. Document all work experience, certifications, and skills that might assist the Certified Federal Resume Writer in preparing your Federal Resume.

    • 2

Search a federal resume writing directory. The Federal Resume Writing Service Directory lists approximately two dozen professional federal resume writers. While some resume writers have CFRW certification, many other writers possess other resume writing certifications. Federal resume writing experience may also be listed. Each writer's profile has space for rate and turnaround time information, as well as a summary of the writer's or company's background (See Resources).

Ask a career coach for a writer referral. Quintessential Careers, an online job search and coaching firm, includes a career coach directory on their website. Browse each career coach listing, and contact those professionals who have listed "assistance with federal employment" (or similar text) in their profile (See Resources).

Ask a headhunter for referrals. "Headhunters," or professional and executive recruiters, are located throughout the United States. The Headhunters Directory can lead you to professionals in your state who work with jobseekers on a regular basis. Ask about their experience with federal job searches and with Certified Federal Resume Writers (See Resources).
