How to Clean Mildew From Walls
Mildew depends upon warm damp locations to thrive and flourish. If areas of your home boast this type of environment, it's possible that mildew spores, which travel through the air, may decide to set up shop and settle in. Mildew is not only unpleasant in appearance, but it also creates a foul smell and can irritate respiratory conditions. These are all great reasons to eliminate it as quickly as possible. Although ridding your home of mildew isn't a fun chore by any means, it's one that has to be done. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Spray bottle
- 3 percent hydrogen peroxide
- Newspaper
- Soft clean cloth
- Clean dry towel

Pour one part 3 percent hydrogen peroxide and three parts clean water into a spray bottle.

Spray the affected area of the wall with the solution to saturate it.

Allow the area to dry and saturate it again.

Place newspaper on the floor underneath the mildew to catch debris and protect your floor.

Scrub the area with a clean cloth or soft bristle brush to scrape away residual mildew.

Spray the area again with the solution and scrub to remove the stain. If the stain persists you may need to allow it to soak again and repeat the process until it is all gone.

Wipe the area clean with a soft clean dry towel to eliminate excess moisture.

Dispose of the newspaper to get the mildew spores out of your home as quickly as possible.
Wear gloves, glasses and a mask to protect yourself from mildew.
Avoid the use of harsh chemicals and abrasives that may damage your walls.
