How to Adjust Cruise Control in a John Deere Lawn Mower
If you have an acre or more of land to mow, you know how fatigued you can get when you have to watch your speed and keep your foot on the gas pedal all the time. John Deere solved that problem on many of its riding lawnmowers by installing a cruise control lever, usually located on the right side of the instrument panel. Press the gas pedal to get the riding lawnmower up to the desired speed. Pull the cruise control lever up and it will lock into position, causing the mower to travel forward at a constant speed. Take your foot off the gas pedal.

Disengage the cruise control by either pressing on the brake pedal, pressing on the gas pedal or pushing the cruise control lever down.

Change the cruise control speed with these steps: 1) push the cruise control lever down, 2) speed up or slow down to the desired speed and 3) pull the cruise control lever up and lock it into position.

Tips & Warnings
It is not safe to engage the cruise control on small lawns. Use this feature only in wide open spaces.
