How to Remove Stains From Marble Kitchen Countertops
Marble countertops evoke an elegant feel when used in a kitchen or bathroom. With a wide variety of colors and patterns, it is hard to duplicate the look and feel of marble countertops. Because marble is considered a porous stone, it tends to attract a multitude of different stains. Take care when cleaning marble and avoid the use of harsh cleansers. Instead opt for more natural cleaning solutions such as baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, hand dishwashing liquid and cornstarch. These substances will remove most stains that you encounter on marble. 1
Treat acidic stains on marble such as vinegar and citrus juice, by first blotting up the spill. Be careful not to rub in the spill as this has a tendency to spread the stain around further. Once the stain is blotted up, make a paste with baking soda and water. Use enough water to form a paste similar to toothpaste. Apply to the affected area and allow it to dry completely until it is hardened. Remove the paste with water and a soft cloth. Take care not to scratch the surface with the paste. Dry with a clean cloth.

Food stains can be eliminated on marble by saturating the area with hydrogen peroxide. Apply hydrogen peroxide to the affected area and let set for a few minutes. The stain should begin to disappear. Once the stain has disappeared, soak up any residual peroxide with a clean cloth and buff dry.

Treat grease and oil stains on marble countertops by first wiping up as much of the liquid as possible. Sprinkle about one teaspoon of cornstarch over the affected area. Let sit for about and hour or two. Remove with a soft, slightly-damp cloth and buff the area clean.

Remove nail polish stains by first dabbing as much of the polish away with a soft cloth. Be careful not to rub as this will spread the polish. Dilute hand dishwashing liquid with water and apply to the stain with a clean cloth. Gently wipe away the stain with a different clean cloth. Repeat the process until the stain is gone.
