Convert FLV to Other Formats

Many websites use FLV (Adobe Flash Video format) to show their streaming videos on the Internet. If you have recently downloaded an FLV file, you may find that your standard video players have trouble viewing the file. While there is no way to convert FLV using native software, there are many third-party software developers who have created FLV conversion programs. These programs can change your FLV files to more standard file extensions like MOV, WMV, AVI, MPEG files.

Instructions

    • 1

Download a third-party conversion program. There are many freeware programs available (see the suggested programs in the "References" section). Install and open the program.

    • 2

Click the button marked "Add File" to open an Explorer window. You can then search for the FLV file you're interested in converting. You can select multiple FLV files at once with some of the programs. Click "Open."

    • 3

Click "Profile" to select a format that you would like to convert your FLV to. Click "Browse" to choose the appropriate destination folder for your soon to be converted file. If you desire, depending on your program, you can edit the length and audio properties of your video file before you convert.
