Cleaning windows doesn't have to involve strong-smelling chemical window cleaners. You can make a streak-free vinegar window cleaner with a few items from your cabinets. Vinegar window-washing solutions work just as well as most chemical products, and they are far less expensive. Best of all, they aren't harmful to the environment or human health.       Measure 1/2 cup of distilled vinegar. Mix it with a gallon of water. Put the mixture in a spray bottle, store extra in an old milk jug. Shake well before using. Spray on glass and use a dry paper towel to wipe clean.

      Add lemon juice and dish soap to the ingredient list for dirtier windows. Measure 1 gallon of water, 1/4 cup distilled vinegar, 2 tbsp. of lemon juice and a squirt of dish soap. Mix well, and pour into a spray bottle. Like the first mixture, extra can be stored in an old milk jug, but shake well before each use. Spray the window with the mixture and use a dry paper towel to wipe clean.

      Mix baking soda, vinegar and water together to clean windows that have dried paint on them, or just need a little more of a scour. Measure 1/4 cup of baking soda, 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/2 gallon of water. Pour into a spray bottle, and shake before each use. Use a sponge to scrub windows and a paper towel to wipe them clean. This mixture also makes a great multipurpose cleaner.
